With this error, the device plugged in is not compatible with the machine. POWER LIGHT ON/ PAPER AND INK LIGHTS BLINKING ALTERNITAVELY – This means that a device that is not supported by the machine is plugged into the PictBridge port. RED PAPER AND INK LIGHTS FLASH RAPIDLY – The CD tray is open. This can also mean that a third party cartridge is not recognized by the machine.

INK LIGHT AND POWER LIGHT BOTH ON - This means that an ink cartridge has run completely out of ink, or there is no ink cartridge installed in one of the slots. The printer can keep functioning for a time when this happens, but it is time to order new ink. RED INK LIGHT FLASHING – One of the ink cartridges is almost out of ink. If this does not work, open the printer and remove the jammed paper manually. Press the PAPER button to try to eject the paper. RED PAPER LIGHT FLASHES/GREEN POWER LIGHT FLASHES – This usually indicates that there is a paper jam.

Load more paper into the machine and press the PAPER button.

RED PAPER LIGHT ON/ GREEN POWER LIGHT BLINKING – This means that the paper has run out in the middle of a printing process. GREEN POWER LIGHT BLINKING – This simply means that the printer is busy be it with receiving a print job, cleaning the print head, or charging ink. Use these blink codes to determine the cause and solution of the error. When one of these lights is blinking or on abnormally, the printer has detected a problem. The PAPER LIGHT features a paper icon next to it, the INK LIGHT features a droplet, and the POWER LIGHT is marked with the familiar on/off symbol. The Epson Stylus Photo 1400 has three indicator lights that supply blink codes when there is a problem with the printer.
